Charro: The Folklore that became a National Symbol
By Francisco Hernandez
Abstract
Charro folklore is a beautiful and colorful tradition that has woven itself into the national identity of Mexico. Originally a term used for vaqueros, cattle farmers, in Mexico, Charro has been a part of Mexican history. From its introduction to Mexico during Spanish colonial rule to the Charro Mexican Revolutionary heroes, and to this day, the folklore of Charro has lived on. Charro is more than just the iconic big charro sombrero; it is a celebration and practice of a tradition deeply rooted in Mexican history and culture. It is also a symbol of the national identity of Mexico.
